William Markley

William Markley is with the Detroit, Michigan office of Alvarez & Marsal. He specializes in developing and executing business plans for profit improvement, turnarounds and restructurings. His primary areas of concentration are cost reduction initiatives, process reengineering, accounting evaluations, financial statement projections, scenario planning, and performance analyses.

With more than 25 years of public accounting and corporate finance experience, Mr. Markley has executed restructuring initiatives, driven operational improvements, implemented accounting changes, and managed finance departments of significant automotive OE and aftermarket businesses. He's been a plant controller, CFO, business owner and worked in both public and private organizations. He's also held senior positions on acquisition and divestiture implementation teams.

Since joining A&M, Mr. Markley has served the following cases:

  • Advising DIP creditors of Delphi Corporation during the Company's Chapter 11 reorganization
  • Assisting Sypris Solutions, Inc. with renegotiating a bank amendment and fulfilling its lending agreement
  • Advising Champion Enterprises, Inc. during their Chapter 11 reorganization
  • Assisting ModusLink Global Solutions with operational cost reduction initiatives


Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Markley spent three years as the Managing Partner of Endeavorus LLC, a financial performance management services firm that he founded in Troy, Michigan. In this role, he assisted automotive, capital equipment and professional services firms with extensive financial planning and analysis work products.

Previously, Mr. Markley served as:

  • CFO of Ghafari Associates, a Top 150 architecture and engineering firm
  • VP of Finance and Controller at TriMas Corporation, a diversified manufacturing company
  • Director of Finance – Americas at Honeywell International, a Fortune 500 multinational conglomerate
  • Corporate Accounting & Risk Manager of New Venture Gear, Inc., a GM and Chrysler joint venture
  • Senior Auditor, Boston office of Deloitte


Mr. Markley earned a bachelor's degree in accounting from Michigan State University and a master's degree in business administration (MBA) from the University of Michigan, Stephen M. Ross School of Business. He is a non-practicing Certified Public Accountant (CPA). He is also a member of the Association of Insolvency & Restructuring Advisors (AIRA) and the Turnaround Management Association (TMA).
